Finally someone got through to you :P
Isn't this the same dude that refuses to pee sitting down...Genius, pure genius!!!
I am convinced, dang I got a lot of books to burn now.
I lasted 2 min 30 secs. Same lies, new mouthpiece.
Peace.

I had to go and pee...did I miss anything?
Ah, where do I begin...Forget it.
Who is this guy?
Jim,
Don't know who this guy is ... but his hermeneutics ... never mind ... not even worth it.
Just another Democrat with a camera and some extra time.
(Did you see anyone else in the shot?)
Oh, and one more thing, I not only recant of my views ... I recant of employing the use of orthodox hermeneutics.
Just following this guy's lead.
This man reminds me of a couple of young Bible college students I know. He has come to conclusions without a particularly good grasp of genral theology. Therefore he is trying to display confidence in his view, even though (it seems like) he subconsciously knows his evidence is shaky. Perhaps a classic case of a "novice" entering the ministry. It's the pat on the back and the "amen brother" that keeps a guy like this going. I'll pray for him.
Somebody has to help this kid. I mean really. Ken or Don....you guys....come on! Help the guy out! He makes like 4 or 5 claims that would be easily shown to not relate with the rest of the Bible. Why can't you guys just do the work and zip it over to him? And then, you guys.....remember your first sermons when you espoused portions of Sabellianism, Apollanarianism, donatism, modalism, monatanism and......oh yeah....Pelagianism? They didn't video you and put it up on the Widow of the World Blog....right? Come on guys....this is just not nice! Let's be his friend and kill the video now! You guys can't do this to this kid.
Straight Ahead!

Uh, no.
But after seeing this video, and seeing the light, I will begin to do just that starting this Sunday. I recant my evil wicked Reformed Baptist leanings in sackcloth and ashes. [/sarcasm]
C'mon guys! I like you, and I enjoy reading this blog, but sarcasm like this is not Christlike. Might there be a little attitude of pride coming out here?
It would bring more benefit to take the time to refute (again) than to degrade.
Jon,
Can you suggest just where we begin the refutation? I wouldn't have a clue.
Joel and John,
In an effort to clarify...
The man in the video is Pastor Steven L. Anderson from Faithful Word Baptist Church in Pheonix, AZ. He is the one uploading videos on his YouTube page. If you click on the video in this post you can find his page (sanderson 1611) and there is also a link to his church website (www.faithfulwordbaptist.org).
This isn't his most outrageous video. Look for the one entitled "Baptist preaches on KJV 'him that pisseth against the wall'"
From his church website: "Pastor Anderson holds no college degree but has well over 100 chapters of the Bible committed to memory, including almost half of the New Testament.
Originally from Sacramento, CA, he was sent out to start a church in the Phoenix Area by Regency Baptist Church, of which he was a member at that time. On November 12, 2005, Pastor Stephen Ray Nichols counselled Steven Anderson in his office to start a church in Phoenix, Arizona. The next day, on November 13, 2005, Pastor Nichols called him up on the platform of Regency Baptist Church in the Sunday morning service and had the church pray for Brother Anderson as he would be going out to start this new church. Faithful Word Baptist Church began 6 weeks later as an independent, autonomous Baptist church.
Since that time God has blessed Faithful Word Baptist Church tremendously. Hundreds have been saved, many have been baptized, and many more have learned to win souls both door-to-door and in their day-to-day lives."
Are we really going to take him seriously? And if so, where would we start? Seriously. I guess I would suggest an "Introduction to Bible Study" class from a Bible College and then go from there.
I guess I would suggest an "Introduction to Bible Study" class from a Bible College and then go from there.
I doubt that is going to happen. He has a sermon posted entitled: "Why Bible College is Unscriptural".
Great,
He's in my back yard. Talk about no excuse. I guess I'll need to be making a phone call and set up a time over coffee. Me and my big mouth!
Blessings guys.
Straight Ahead!

Joel,
If I was a betting man, my money would be on his calling you heretic before your first meeting is complete.
After all, this guy knows that Billy Graham is going to hell.
What can I say? This is anti-intellectual IFBx for you. What scares me, is that this group will end up less and less Christian rather than simply dying out.
Its fine to study the Bible for yourself (in re: the common IFBx refrain that you don't need scholars to tell you what the Bible says)- but the complete lack of intellectual accountability (honest exposure to opposing viewpoints, peer review, interdisciplinary study) and the intellectual inbreeding caused by IFBx colleges hiring their own graduates as professors, leaves their doctrine increasingly weak and deformed. New Bible versions being corrupt seed, Baptist Bride, rejection of repentance, and even more odd and alien doctrines fester among various IFBx congregations. Books such as Hyles' "Enemies of Soulwinning" and Schaap's "The Divine Intimacy" aren't finding anywhere near the level of criticism among IFBx that they deserve among those who call themselves Christian. Rogues like Peter Ruckman and Phil Kidd and Gail Riplinger are given all but a free pass among these people. The Word isn't preached except as it fits in the IFBx preacher's topical outline.
They are loud and vicious but there is no substance. Their legalistic teachings have reassured people of their sanctification based on their keeping of "standards" and rules and their involvement in the church. However, for the IFBx crowd, the fruit of the Spirit is missing despite all the pieties on the outside.
So I end this comment as I began it, with the question of whether IFBx will die off or continue to mutate into something even worse.
Jerry,
Thanks for finding that sermon topic. If someone refuses to listen, or is unteachable, what hope is there?
Well Jerry.
If the guy calls me a heretic there's just one more thing to do.
Go ahead and join the GARBC!
:)
Just kidding guys....just kidding!
Blessings to all my GARB friends here and elsewhere.
Straight Ahead!

Joel,
You tell us to stop being sarcastic and degrading and that you say that "If he calls me a heretic...then I should join the GARBC?" Followed by a "just kidding." Your actions seem hypocritical...it's ok for you to be "kid" in a sarcastic and degrading way to us who are GARBC church pastors...but when we "kid" in a sarcastic and degrading way towards these home videos...you tell us to cut it out?
Isn't there a little pride coming out there? (Mt. 12:34)

Is this guy serious? Where did he go to school...if anywhere?
There are lots of pastors preaching lots of doctrines. Maybe it would be worthwhile to e-mail this gentleman with a courteous, thoughtful rebuttal to explain the erroneous nature of his theology. (Salt and Light included therein)
His response would, surely, be blog-worthy.
Also, I'm shocked to not have seen an article about how the KU Jayhawks somehow DIDN'T get upset in the first round of March Madness! Amazing use of restraint PK:) I mean, how long has it been since the rock-chalk's have won a game in the tourney? First a good football team, then a couple of wins in March. What next?

Michael Myers,
I was trying to have fun in the midst of dealing with a serious situation (this guys theology...or lack thereof). Most of the guys here know I appreciate and even have fellowship/relationships with GARB men. I've been very public on my defense of the GARB. I have explained a few times where/when I've been hesitant with GARB practices from the past (they are mostly past and have most to do with the approval system). Michael, it was a joke. I'm sorry if you didn't get that. I don't think that what I was doing is the same as what you are accusing me of. I am sorry it came off the way you read it. I will be more careful next time.
By the way when I was saying come on guys be nice to this guy, "my tongue was securely planted in my cheek." That's the negative of the blog deal....you can't see my facial expressions, tone of voice, etc.....
I don't think pride is coming through....but it might as it is one of my regular sins. You pray for me Michael that I might be more humble. I pray for it all the time.
Thanks for the note....Certainly not wanting to come off like a dork.....especially a proud dork!
Straight Ahead guys!

Anybody see Hist Ch. on Reformation? Left out John Knox.
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Joel, my apologies. I got you and Jon Selander mixed up. Big mis-understanding. Will you forgive me for making an accusation of pride? Jon accused this blog of being prideful and degrading for posting this video. To quote you...Me and my big mouth. I'm sorry it has taken me awhile to post...I was gone all last week. Blessing to you and your ministry Joel
Mike
Respectfully,
I did not accuse anyone of being prideful by the posting of the video. Posting and refuting is what strengthens and sharpens each other. Jon
I accidently ran across this forum while looking for something else. The guy is telling the truth, plain and simple. Your comments remind of the crowd that was always trying to find fault in what Jesus was teaching. 'He healed on the Sabbath, he didn't wash his hands before he ate..he eats with sinners, blah, blah, blah'
How many did you personally win to Jesus last year? How many did your church baptize?...something to think about.
